This etching is number 4 from Glenn Brown's Half-Life (after Rembrandt) (2016) series. Taking Rembrandt's portraits as inspiration, Brown scans and digitally manipulates the images, overlaying a number of them to produce a series of printing plates. The plates are printed in combination to create intricate spectral compositions comprising up to fifteen different source images in layers upon layers of black ink.
