Glenn Brown 'Layered Portrait (after Rembrandt) 4' Etching

This etching is number 4 from Glenn Brown's Layered Portraits (after Rembrandt) (2008) series. Taking Rembrandt's portraits as inspiration, Brown scans and digitally manipulates images, overlaying several of them to produce a series of printing plates. The plates are printed in combination to create intricate spectral compositions comprising up to fifteen different source images in layers upon layers of black ink.
