Glenn Brown 'Bring on the Dancing Horses (after Greuze/Hesse)' Etching

This etching is part of Glenn Brown's Bring on the Dancing Horses (2019) series, published by Paragon Press. Taking portraits by French painter Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725–1805) and French painter and lithographer Nicolas-Auguste Hesse (1795–1869) as inspiration, Brown scans and digitally manipulates the images, overlaying a number of them to produce a series of printing plates. The plates are printed in combination to create intricate spectral compositions comprising up to fifteen different source images and layered in black ink.
